Progressive business is an idea with a long history. Although they are seen as making a positive impact, many of the changes implemented fall short in comparison of progressive policies due to the power of government. The idea of progressive business is to implement changes or ideas that will better the experience of stakeholders by allowing them to be more responsible and having a goal that will make a positive impact instead of chasing a cheque. This will also allow for shareholder value to be expressed to the fullest potential. The capitalistic creed is therefore challenged by these changes, even though organization can try their best to improve lives, it is ultimately based upon economic changes, sanctions/regulations put in place and government. To make positive changes that will affect everyone, it is important to have the power of government on your side as progressive business' can only make changes within the lives of those involved in their organization. Furthermore, there are always changes in the business world such as the growth of social enterprises being on the rise. Government policies should be stricter with the wealthy as without that they will most likely abuse the power they have. Progressive business' are needed and should not give up their battle as they help many, but we should also not stop thinking because at times people can greedy. That is why we should stay skeptical when faced with progressive business’ even though they help achieve good things, they are not a substitute for progressive policies.
